Dictation on subject matter
1932-34
|
Friedl gave "dictations" of subject matter. Each object thus evinced was to be represented with emphasis on its characteristic qualities. It should not be rendered in a purely descriptive manner, not only to be recognizable.
Heavy brick; rolling pin; string bag; maccaroni; tea strainer; funnel; match box; fly; thimble; blades of grass -- the students tried to find some character in each of these objects.
