Edith Kramer studied art with Friedl Dicker in 1934 - 1938 in Vienna and Prague. In 1938 she emigrated to New York and had her first exhibition in 1943.

1950 - 1957: art therapy program for children. In 1958 she summed up her work in the book "Art Therapy in a Children's Community"
1959 - 1973: art therapy course in the "New School for Social Research"
from 1963: art therapy program in the Jacobi Hospital in Bronx, and art therapy practice with the blind children in the Jewish Guild for the Blind
1971: publication of the book "Art in Therapy with Children". Series of lectures in various American universities
1975: creation of the "Graduate Art Therapy Training Program" with Laurie Wilson
